Joe Preston teamed up with Sinclair Associates in 2010.
Prior to joining Sinclair and Associates, Joe worked with Alcoa Inc. as a process engineer, Smelter Quality Coordinator, Potroom Process Control Supervisor, Smelter Environmental Coordinator, and the Area Production Manager for the Baking Furnace and Green Mill.
Joe has 32 years of experience in the light metals industry. He has led multidisciplinary teams implementing process improvement in all areas of the Tennessee Aluminum Smelter. He has led management teams in the Bakes and Green Mill updating equipment and dramatically reducing down time. In the Tennessee Green Mill, Joe led the “operations and maintenance” team to improve equipment availability from 65% to 85% while implementing a 5-year $5.5 million equipment updating plan. A new Tennessee Green Mill safety record of almost 10 years without a serious injury was also achieved during this period.
Joe is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1976. He is the holder of U.S. Patent 5,310,291 for a pot alumina feeder tube lining insert.
